The 2010 Coretta Scott King Book Winners


This is my fourth post is Award Winning Children's Books. See my 1st three posts for The Theodor Seuss Geisel Award, The John Newbery Medal, and The Randolph Caldecott Medal.

The Coretta Scott King award recognizes African American authors and illustrators for their books for young adults and children.

This year's 2010 King Author winner is Bad News for Outlaws: The Remarkable Life of Bass Reeves, Deputy U.S. Marshall by Vaunda Micheaux Nelson, illustrated by R. Gregory Christie

The year's 2010 King Illustrator winner is My People illustrated by Charles R. Smith Jr., written by Langston Hughes

The year's 2010 King Honors books are

"Mare's War" by Tanita S. Davis
The Negro Speaks of Rivers by Langston Hughes
